InstantTripCost (instanttripcost.com) respects your privacy and complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This page details what data we collect, why, the legal basis, retention, and your rights.

Data we collect

When you use the budget calculator, no personal data is required: no account, no email, no advertising cookie. Your simulation parameters (departure city, destination, dates, travellers) are processed on the fly to produce the estimate and are not kept on our servers. One exception, and it is yours to trigger. Below the result, you may ask to receive quotes from travel agencies. If you do, we then keep your email address, this trip's criteria, and the date you gave your agreement along with the exact wording you accepted. The budget stays fully available without this step: declining costs you nothing.

Destination page comments

If you post feedback on a destination page, we store only: the nickname you provide, the message text, the destination slug, the page language, optional fields you choose to add (indicative budget, trip length), and the publication date. A timestamp records your explicit consent at the time of submission.

Legal basis (GDPR article 6)

Processing of comments rests on your consent (GDPR article 6.1.a), given at the time of publication. Sharing your contact details with partner agencies also rests on your consent, given through a box unticked by default, separate from any other action, and whose exact wording we retain. You can withdraw it at any time, and we stop all sharing immediately. No automated profiling is performed on this data.

Retention period

Comments are kept for as long as they remain publicly displayed on the site. You can request their deletion at any time by contacting us (state the destination and the alias used). Introduction requests are kept for three years from your last exchange with us, the usual period for commercial prospecting. After you withdraw consent, we keep only the record of the withdrawal and its date, so we can prove that sharing has stopped.

Recipients and hosting

Data is hosted by Supabase Inc. (technical provider, United States and European Union). The site itself is hosted by Vercel Inc. If, and only if, you asked to receive quotes, your email address and trip criteria are shared with partner travel agencies, which contact you directly and become data controllers on their side. Outside that case, no personal data is shared with a commercial third party: we neither sell nor rent any list.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability over your data. To exercise these rights, email contact@instanttripcost.com. We respond within 30 days. If you disagree with our response, you may file a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr) or your local data protection authority.

Cookies

InstantTripCost only uses technical cookies necessary for the site to function (language preference). No advertising or marketing tracking cookies are set. Affiliate links to Skyscanner, Trip.com, and GetYourGuide may set their own cookies once on their respective sites, in line with their own policies.

Quick glossary

Supabase: Our technical provider for the comments database. US company, data stored in the EU region by default.
Vercel: Our web host (the site itself). Global delivery network, but the site doesn't store any personal data.
Consent (GDPR article 6.1.a): You explicitly accept the publication of your comment at the moment you submit. That permission is what makes the processing lawful.
Technical cookie: A small file that remembers your language preference. Essential for the site to work, exempt from consent banners.
Advertising cookie: A cookie used to track you across sites for marketing targeting. InstantTripCost uses none.
